In a heartfelt appeal, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to end the recurring fuel scarcity that has continued to plague Nigeria. Oyintiloye expressed deep concern over the persistent fuel shortages, which have caused immense suffering for Nigerians across the country. In a statement released in Osogbo on Sunday, the former lawmaker highlighted the growing frustration among Nigerians, who had hoped that the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government would bring an end to the scarcity. Instead, the situation has worsened, with fuel becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and prices soaring to unprecedented levels.
Oyintiloye emphasized the severe impact of the fuel crisis on daily life, noting that many Nigerians have been forced to endure long queues at filling stations, often spending nights there in a desperate bid to secure fuel for their vehicles and businesses. He urged President Tinubu to intervene urgently, suggesting that the President should investigate the activities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to identify the root causes of the ongoing scarcity. “Fuel scarcity is now becoming a normal routine of daily life in Nigeria, which is supposed not to be,” Oyintiloye lamented. He underscored the need for the President to act swiftly to alleviate the hardship being faced by millions of Nigerians, who are struggling to cope with the high cost of fuel and the challenges of daily living.
In addition to calling for immediate intervention, Oyintiloye urged the President to consider long-term solutions, including the revitalization of government-owned refineries. By doing so, he argued, the cost of fuel could be stabilized, and Nigeria could move closer to achieving energy security, reducing the nation’s reliance on imported petroleum products. As Nigerians continue to grapple with the effects of the fuel crisis, Oyintiloye’s appeal echoes the growing demand for effective leadership and prompt action to resolve the situation. The hope is that with President Tinubu's intervention, the cycle of fuel scarcity will be broken, bringing much-needed relief to the people of Nigeria.
