Ekiti Approves N4.15bn for Road Construction, Agriculture, and Other Projects

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a budget of N4.15 billion for various development projects, including road rehabilitation, the renovation of the House of Assembly complex, agricultural initiatives, and the construction of hostels. The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, announced the approvals on Tuesday, detailing the council’s decisions made on August 26. Among the key projects, a contract worth N2.71 billion was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the rehabilitation of the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion, boost socio-economic activities, and improve security and quality of life for residents in the area. The road rehabilitation is expected to be completed within 12 months.

Additionally, N701 million has been allocated for the comprehensive renovation and remodeling of the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission building. This contract, awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed in 12 weeks.

In the agricultural sector, the state government approved N229 million for the procurement of tractors and other farm machinery to empower farmers and enhance production. The procurement, handled by AGCOMS International Trading Limited, is set to be completed in four weeks. Furthermore, N177.9 million has been approved as part payment to clear 325 hectares of land for youths from various local governments to support the 'Youths In Agriculture' initiative. Finally, the state government ratified a N329.4 million contract for the construction of a 100-bed hostel at the Command Secondary School, Isan Ekiti, to support full boarding facilities. This project is also expected to be completed within 12 weeks.
