In an unprecedented act of youthful activism, children aged 8-13, along with other young people, marched through the streets of Jalingo on Thursday afternoon to protest the hardships they face. The children chanted 'Bamu ai, bamu ai,' which means 'We don't agree, we don't agree,' expressing their discontent with the current situation.
The protest began on Hamaruwa Way, a major thoroughfare in the city, and continued towards the flyover bridge, a significant landmark. The young protesters were vocal about their frustrations, calling for urgent action to address their plight.
According to our correspondent, who observed the event, the demonstration was closely monitored by personnel from the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
