Gunmen Abduct Journalist’s Wife, Two Daughters in Kaduna

The wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir were among ten family members kidnapped on Thursday in Kaduna State. Bashir’s wife and daughters had arrived in Kaduna earlier that day for a holiday with her family in a suburb of the city. The kidnapping was reported by Bashir, a correspondent with the Nigeria Telegraph, who shared the news with colleagues in a brief statement on Friday in Lokoja, Kogi State.

In his message, Bashir appealed for prayers, stating, “My dear colleagues, please I need your prayers. My two daughters and their mother, including eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna where they went for a holiday. Please pray for me.”

He confirmed that he had reached out to the police and the Department of State Services, who have assured him that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
