Katsina Governor Dikko Radda Resumes Duty, Embarks on Official Visit to China

The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has officially resumed office after a one-month constitutional leave. Upon his return, Radda immediately embarked on a five-day working visit to the People’s Republic of China, marking his first official assignment since resuming duties. Radda had previously handed over the leadership of the state to his Deputy, Faruk Lawal, before proceeding on his break on July 18, 2024. During this period, Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe served in an acting capacity. In a statement released by Radda’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, the purpose of the governor’s visit to China was outlined. “This working visit marks Governor Radda’s first official assignment following his return from one-month constitutional leave. As part of his administration’s efforts to foster global partnerships, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda has embarked on a five-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The Governor, accompanied by key government officials, will be in the country from August 18th to 23rd, 2024, to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral relations,” the statement read.

Governor Radda was welcomed at Daxing International Airport in Beijing by William Lui, who will be hosting the delegation throughout their stay in China. The governor’s entourage includes his Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Turaji; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Prof. Ahmed Bakori; the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Investment, Adnan Habu; and the Lead Consultant, Haroun Gana.

During their visit, the governor and his team are scheduled to meet with Chinese government officials, investors, and various manufacturers of heavy-duty equipment and agricultural implements. The aim of these meetings is to explore potential investment opportunities and strengthen the bilateral relationship between Katsina State and China. Governor Radda’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that can bring development and investment to Katsina State.
