Kylian Mbappe scored his first two La Liga goals as Real Madrid beat Real Betis

Kylian Mbappe finally opened his La Liga account, scoring twice as Real Madrid secured a win against Real Betis. The France forward's first goal came from a slick move, running on to Federico Valverde's backheel and slotting the ball past Rui Silva. Later, Mbappe calmly sent Silva the wrong way from the penalty spot after the goalkeeper brought down Vinicius Jr.

This performance marked Mbappe's return to the scoresheet in La Liga, having failed to score in his previous three league fixtures. His first goal came after 25 shots in the La Liga season, with the penalty conversion being his 26th shot—more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. Mbappe, a summer signing from Paris St-Germain, where he remains the all-time top scorer with 256 goals, had previously scored on his debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta. However, he struggled to find the net in La Liga until this match.

Real Betis had their chances early on, with Abde Ezzalzouli heading wide from close range and Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque forcing a save with his first touch off the bench. Despite Betis' efforts, it was Real Madrid who dominated in terms of opportunities. Mbappe had seven shots before finally scoring, while Eder Militao and Valverde also tested the Betis goalkeeper. Vinicius Jr. came close to adding another goal, hitting the post with a deflected shot. With this win, Real Madrid remains unbeaten after four league games but is still four points behind Barcelona in the standings. Meanwhile, Betis has struggled, managing to pick up only one point from their opening three matches.
