Napoli and Galatasaray Confirm Osimhen Loan Deal

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially joined Turkish club Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, as confirmed by both clubs. The loan agreement will last until the end of the 2024-25 season, with Osimhen also securing a one-year contract extension with Napoli, keeping him tied to the Italian club until June 2027. The 25-year-old forward had attracted significant interest from Premier League giants Chelsea before the English transfer window closed. Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli was also reportedly keen on signing him, but Osimhen ultimately made the move to Turkey.

Osimhen has been a prolific scorer during his time at Napoli, netting 76 goals in 133 appearances. His remarkable 26-goal contribution played a vital role in Napoli’s Serie A title win during the 2022-23 season. However, the Nigerian star struggled to replicate that same level of performance last season, managing 15 goals in a difficult campaign where Napoli finished 10th and went through three managers.

Napoli, now under the leadership of former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, has brought in Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku for £30 million from Chelsea to bolster their attack for the new season. ⚡ Image Credit: GettyImages
