Strikes, rain and snow pose challenges during record Thanksgiving travel week

As the holiday travel season reaches unprecedented levels this week, travelers are facing additional challenges beyond the usual bickering from children in the backseat

A significant factor complicating journeys is a strike by service workers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, which began at 5 a.m. on Monday. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which announced the strike following a vote last Friday, is calling for an end to low wages and for respect in the workplace during the busy holiday season. The strikers, employed by ABM and Prospect Airport Services, are responsible for cleaning aircraft interiors and aiding passengers using wheelchairs.
