X Users Donate Over N16 Million to Parents of Quadruplets in 24 Hours

In a heartwarming display of compassion, X users have rallied to support a Nigerian couple, Sodiq and Abiodun Olayode, who recently welcomed quadruplets. The couple, already parents to two children, found themselves facing the financial burden of caring for four new babies amid economic challenges. The story began when an X user named James shared his colleague's struggles on WhatsApp. Mr. Olayode frequently posted about the high cost of diapers and other baby necessities, expressing his frustration and desperation. What was meant to be a simple family expansion turned into a surprising and overwhelming situation for the Olayodes. James revealed the story in response to a post by X user Ifedolapo Sanni, who had expressed her fears about having twins. James tweeted, "Fun fact: My colleague who had two kids already said he should do and add one more. Guess how many his wife gave birth to? 4 at once (quadruplets). The man wanted craze. Na so so laments for status every day." He also shared a screenshot of Mr. Olayode's WhatsApp status showing the number of diapers used in just six days, highlighting the couple's challenges.

The post read, "105 pieces of diapers in 6 days, ha! Mo gbe mo daran. E shanu mi eyin quadruplet yi." This translates to, "105 pieces of diapers in 6 days, ha! I am finished; I am in trouble. Have mercy on me, this quadruplet."

James, with the Olayodes' consent, shared their account details and photos of the quadruplets, inviting netizens to support the family. The response was overwhelming, with donations pouring in from individuals and brands alike, reaching over N16 million within 24 hours. Airtel Nigeria announced on X that they would support the couple with N2 million, saying, "great things come in multiples." The Milk Booster, a breastfeeding enhancement company, also contributed by donating products such as a breast pump to help Mrs. Abiodun with her breastfeeding journey. This incredible outpouring of support is reminiscent of the story of Deborah Olaki, aka Mummy Zee, who gained widespread attention and assistance after her tweet about preparing her husband's lunch went viral.
